CONFERENCE
SPONSORS
|
|

IMA allocates its operating expenses across three tiers of members:
Network Members: Each Major Broadcasting Network provides annual support of $12,000, which is used as working capital to organize the annual Public Media Conference. In return for this support, each network receives a set number of registrations and sponsorship privileges for various elements of the conference.
Station members: Each licensee pays an annual fee of $6,000. Radio/TV joint licensees or state networks pay a single membership fee--if the stations are controlled by a single governing board.
Organizational/Producer members: Each non-station organization or producer pays an annual fee of $3,000.
Member benefits
- Semi-annual member meetings that address major web issues from a state-of-the-art perspective.
- Large discounts on the annual conference.
- Collective Purchases of Proprietary Research
- Guaranteed Access to IMA's annual CEO Seminar, which provides public broadcast leaders with access to national technology and e-publishing leaders;
- Participation in other IMA-sponsored projects, including the metrics pilot project, recently initiated by NPR; development of streaming models (M*STAR); the FolkAlley online music service, and the KPBS Election Education Partnership.
- IMA publications and newsletters.
- On-site briefing and consultation with Mark Fuerst for senior staff, board members, etc. on major on-line issues.
Recent members explained their motivation as follows:
- All sensed that IMA is taking up very important issues that need to be addressed by a group that includes networks and stations.
- Some want "a seat at the table" for discussion of system strategy.
- All want IMA material for their own internal management purposes.
- All want to get the member discount for the conference.
- All want to send their staff--for free--to the IMA-sponsored "New Basics" sessions, which otherwise cost $500/person.
To discuss membership please call Milton Clipper, Chair of the IMA Board of Directors at 678-686-0361.
