Is Responsive Web Design a Silver Bullet?
Wednesday, Aug 29, 2012 - 2:00 - 3:00 ETMobile may be the thing these days, but it doesn’t mean you can abandon your web site. iPad usage is increasing quickly; Kindle Fire sized devices are gaining steam; a plethora of Android screen sizes exist; your web site is still in play; and, of course, there is a huge iPhone market. So how do you decide where to spend your (never big enough) interactive budget? The answer is simple: accommodate all devices using responsive design. A Responsive Web Design (RWD) uses certain tools and techniques to allow the front end design to respond to the type of device accessing the web property and present an appropriately designed user interface. It also allows all devices to access the same content and code.
Come join this iMA Premium webinar where we’ll explain the practice of responsive design and its benefits. We’ll describe the application development process that incorporates responsive design as well as the technologies involved in enabling it. After reviewing responsive design more generally, we’ll take a look at the implementation at Southern California Public Radio. They will share their decision making process for moving ahead with responsive design and the realities of their development and launch process. If you are looking for a silver bullet, this might just be as close as it gets.
